Pippbrook House, now the offices of Mole Valley District Council, was constructed on the site of former manor houses, dating back to 1378. Pippbrook House was rebuilt and extended in 1859 to the designs of prolific architect, George Gilbert Scott, a Victorian Gothic revivalist.
Ghosts of PippbrookA lady in a long grey dress regularly descends the stairs, above where the Social Care Team now has offices, and a butler is said to spend his nights watching out the former library window.
Poltergeists are even said to have been at work over the years, with knives thrown down stairs, books moving in the library and pens and pencils mysteriously piling up in the middle of the room.
